Ollar
Derrik Ollar is the owner of and the principal photographer
for Ollar Photography. Established in 1989, his business is
located in beautiful West Linn (part of the Portland, Oregon
metropolitan). Prior to achieving his dream of becoming a
professional photographer, Derrik Ollar worked as both an
Army infantry soldier and a corporate sales executive.
His educational background includes graduating with national
honors from the University of Oregon with a BS degree from
the college of Human Development and Performance, and also
with a minor in Biology. He went on to do his post-graduate
work at Portland State University in both Communications and
Photography.
Some of Derrik Ollar’s additional achievements and
associations include his membership in regional and national
professional photography associations where he is currently
serving as a executive board member for two of these associations.
He has also earned his certification as a custom picture framer
and specializes in the archival presentation of photographic
materials.
Sought after by his peers, Derrik Ollar delivers lectures
at professional photography seminars and has even served as
a national photography judge. His work is recognized for his
use of sensitivity, artistry, and technical expertise.
Having a firm belief in continuing his professional growth,
Derrik Ollar strives to complete a minimum 100 hours of continuing
education each year. In the course of continuing to learn
and grow, he has had the opportunity to study under some of
the world’s finest photographers.
Derrik Ollar’s portfolio of work is very broad. He
has done commercial photography work for the high tech industry,
executive portraiture for large corporations like American
General Life, and advertising photography for international
companies like McDonalds. His work has appeared in exhibitions,
advertisements, newspapers, magazines, and books.
At the turn of the new century, Derrik Ollar decided to begin
limiting his art form to his primary love; creating distinctive
artful portraiture of newborns, children, and families. He
is passionate about producing his style of personalized art
for his families and individuals, and he is just as passionate
about helping them to create a beautiful legacy of their lives.
